Beta Actin

Beta Actin

Beta actin (ACTB) is one of six human actin isoforms, and one of only two nonmuscle cytoskeletal forms. Actins are highly conserved proteins that are required for cell motility, structure, and integrity. Because beta actin is ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells, beta actin is frequently used as a loading control for assays involving protein detection, such as Western blotting and ELISA. Beta actin antibodies also provide a specific and useful tool in studying the intracellular distribution of beta actin and the static and dynamic aspects of the cytoskeleton.Beta-actin (gene name ACTB) is one of six different actin isoforms which have been identified in humans. This is one of the two nonmuscle cytoskeletal actins. Actins are highly conserved proteins[1] that are involved in cell motility, structure and integrity. Alpha actins are a major constituent of the contractile apparatus.
