Firetruck

Firetruck

Shane first bought the FireTruck as a close-to-stock '97 TJ Wrangler, with a 4.0L inline 6 cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual transmission on 31” tires. Over the years the FireTruck has been lifted, stretched, widened, lightened, cut and modified more times than we care to count… transforming her into one of the most capable and recognizable Jeeps in Australia.
As the tires got bigger, and the trails got harder, the stock axles (Dana 44 rear and Dana 30 front) were retired for a pair of heavy duty high pinion Dana 60's stuffed with Detroit lockers, 4.88 gears and 35 spline shafts. These have since been upgraded to a pair of high clearance Rockcrusher Crusher 60R's, with 35 spline alloy shafts throughout. If we do have to let up on the skinny peddle, chevy ½ ton disk brakes front and rear and a Dodge 3500 brake master cylinder take care of stopping duties.

Forest Fires

Forest Fires

Forest Fire are a folk-rock band with double-F initials whose first album was, in fact, more highly praised in some quarters at the end of last year than Fleet Foxes' debut.
Forest Fire can just sound simple and sweet, as on the Dylanesque campfire singalong I Make Windows. They have been described as a punk band playing folk songs, and they do indeed have the ramshackle quality of a lo-fi garage unit thrashing and bashing their way through their set. But sometimes they sound as ragged and electric, as fast and loose, as an alt-country quartet, or they can, as on Promise, drone and wail sax-ily like one of your favourite New York (or proto-punk Detroit) bands past or present. There are tuneful grooves as well as moody atmospherics, with electronic textures to supplement the more organic instrumentation. Throughout, Mark Thresher, the one with the Gatling gun social skills, splashes his acquired-taste Wayne Coyne/Neil-ish whine over the songs like so much vinegar. And there is a general air of beat-poet cool and careless articulacy to the lyrics that heightens the impression of the band as quintessential SoHo bohos.

Idaho Fires

Idaho Fires

Taken with a short lens (45 millimeters), this west-looking astronaut photograph has a field of view covering much of the forested region of central Idaho. The dark areas are wooded mountains—the Salmon River Mountains (image left), the Bitterroots (lower right) and Clearwater Mountains (right). All three areas experienced wildfires in September 2012.
Smaller fire “complexes” appear as tendrils of smoke near the sources—for example, the Halstead fires—and as major smoke plumes from fires in the densest forests—such as the Mustang fire complex. Mustang produced the largest plume in the region, with thick smoke blowing eastward over the Beaverhead Mountains (image bottom).
The linear shape of the smoke plumes gives a sense of the generally eastward smoke transport on September 3, 2012. (Note that the image is rotated so that north is to the right.) The smoke distribution also reveals another kind of transport. At night, when winds are weak, the cooling of the atmosphere near the ground causes cooler, denser air to drain down into the valleys. On September 3, this led to some smoke flowing west, down into the narrow Salmon and Lochsa River valleys—in the opposite direction from the higher winds and the thick smoke masses.

Firefighter Games

Firefighter Games

Firefighters are trained to run into burning buildings and to put out hazardous fires. This can be done from the ground or from the air (by plane or helicopter). Firefighters are also known as the Fire Service, Fire and Rescue Service, the Fire Brigade or Fire Department. The Fire Brigade may cocnsist of professional firefighters (who are paid) volunteer firefighters (who are not), and retained firefighters who are also called on when needed.
Figherfighter Games
Firefighting is not just about stopping the fire, it's equally important to make sure you have a steady water supply. And on slow days it's your job to save the occasional kitten from a tree. Practice you rescue skills online in these online firefighter games!
